New oral history project collects rail LGBTQIA+ stories

May 31, 2024
Members of the Fund with a connection to LGBTQIA+ are welcome to get involved.

Called People, Pride and Progress, the project is run by the National History Museum.

It aims to gather the stories and memories of the LGBTQIA+ rail community in a new oral history archive.

The initiative will also seek to connect LGBTQIA+ colleagues across all parts of the rail industry and to provide an opportunity for partakers to reflect and learn from each other.

Participants will be recorded chatting about past experiences, sharing life stories and memories. The recordings will then be added to the oral history archive and made available to the public to access at all 5 museums in the Science Museum Group including the National Railway Museum in York and the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester.

How to get involved

If you have a story to share, get involved by emailing  PeoplePrideProgress@railwaymuseum.org.uk
