Your latest Penfriend newsletter is here

Your latest Penfriend newsletter for Autumn/Winter is here. It includes:

  • A summary of the 2019 Report & Accounts
  • Bridge House closure announcement
  • Your mental health and the Coronavirus pandemic
  • Pension news
  • Rail Staff Travel updates

We also want to apologise for an error in your printed copy of Penfriend on page 10, in the article 'Make a will and protect the ones you love'. The error is under the heading 'Make sure you don’t pay more Inheritance Tax than you need to'.

The printed version includes wording as follows:

'Normally you would only need to pay IHT [Inheritance Tax] in three circumstances - if the value of your estate is below 325,000, if you leave everything above £325,000 to your spouse or partner, or if you leave everything above this threshold to a charity.'

This is incorrect, so the web version of the newsletter has been updated with the correct wording:

'You would not have to pay IHT if the value of your estate is below £325,000 (the threshold), or if you leave everything above £325,000 to your spouse or partner or charity.'

We're sorry for any convenience this may have caused.
